Block #2

We are up and running in the "network" part of the house. We now have TV - I had NO idea how bad the damage was from Irene!!! I missed the news so much. Then my second catastrophe happened. My Janome decided to break down. I have to take it in for the diagnosis - more to come on my sweet Jan. I decided to get out the ole' Janome 9700, my embroidery machine. She wasn't crazy about straight stitching, until I found the right foot for her. Some of my block #2's for the Happy Quilting QAL aren't straight or acurately "pointy" but I'm managing. I hope to get 3 more of these babies done tonight...

I've fallen head over heals in love with American Banner Rose, isn't she beautiful?

Shocking!!!

Truly shocking... our house got struck by lightning and fried everything hooked up to Directv and the modem. Hopefully I'll get it all fixed soon!!! I'll be baaaack!

Dottie and Nana

I realized that I didn't have a good picture of Dottie on our blog, but here she is working with Nana on a pink ribbon quilt. Aren't they all beautiful???

I hope to get some more stars done today and maybe something else to put on the racks tonight.

Getting Wonky With It!!

They are not wonky yet... But they will be soon. I've joined a quilt along that is chuck full of wonky stars. You can visit Happy Quilting here for more info. Don't those triangles look like WORK? I have got news for you, I didn't cut a single triangle. YEAH!

Introduction to Dottie

Nana & I bought an HQ Avante long arm quilt machine. YAY!!!! I am in love.... her name is Dottie, affectionately named after my grandmother. Here is a picture of our first quilt together.

The quilt is mine, a jelly roll from Lilac Hill. No pattern, I just had an idea in my head and ran with it. My son loves playing trucks under Dottie as you can tell from the lower right hand corner.

This is our 2nd quilt together. I've had the fabric for so long that I don't remember the designer. This quilt belongs to my 8 year old niece, I gave her the fabric and she designed it. For her birthday I showed her how to sew it together. I'm quilting it with daisies - cute, right?

Introductions

This is me (Steph) and my baby girl, Isabella (Izzy). I love this picutre, it was taken in Hilton Head in 2010 - she is such a ham, can't you tell? I hope that Nana Mo and I will inspire her to carry on the quilting tradition (fingers crossed).

About ME. I live in Ohio with my wonderful husband and our two children. I'm a stay at home Mama to a 3 year old (A.J.) and my 1 yr. old (Isabella). We live on a five acre farm and this is going to be our first year planting a pumpkin patch - we're going to be pumpkin farmers!!! This was my crazy idea because I love pumpkin patches and I've always wanted one. This year we will not be open to the public, we're just going to learn how to grow them and set up a wagon selling pumpkins in our little town.

I started quilting in 2002. Nana Mo showed me some quilting projects that she had made and I fell in love with her new hobby. I asked her to teach me to make a quilt for a good friend of mine (for her wedding) and I've never stopped quilting. My stash is out of control, my projects are scattered all over the house, and my head is brimming with ideas. That's normal, right?

Nana Mo and I have decided to start making some patterns and we really want a long arm quilting machine. We're currently on the hunt for the PERFECT machine. We don't know if we'll make $$$, but we know the journey will FUN! Portions of our proceeds are going to go to our passion - The 3 Day.

www.the3day.org is a 60 mile walk in 3 days for Breast Cancer Research. Nana Mo is training for her 3rd walk right now!! I'm not able to walk this year because I have a 3yr old and a 1yr old and my husband works crazy hours, so I'm going to wait another year or two.

Well, it's Saturday and I'm going to my local quilt shop today, the Paw Patch in Mount Vernon to pick up an embroidery assignment. I own a Janome embroidery machine and love to machine applique quilts from time to time. This particular project was my idea and design - I can't wait to start working on it!!! Stay tuned for pictures as I create this project....
