What I've been up to...

It doesn't seem like it's been since NOVEMBER that I blogged.  But there is proof and it's true.  Many things have happened since November.  On a sad note, my father in law passed away New Years Day from a long sickness.  On a good note, Mike and I told him that we were expecting our 3rd baby.  He was absolutely thrilled!!! Melissa Lynn will be here on August 7th, 2012.  Wow!!! That's 8 weeks away!!!
I've got the quilting bug again.  I'm trying to utilize it because after the baby arrives, I will be quite tired busy for a few months.  My daughter moved into her big brother's room and I made the above quilt for her new "big girl bed".  The pattern is "Off Track" by Cluck Cluck Sew and the fabric is Ruby by Bonnie & Camille for Moda.  This pattern was SO easy and I love the way it turned out.  The jelly rolls had green in them but I left them out because my son's bed is a Spiderman theme and I wanted to keep the colors similar.
Folded and bound.  Just need to make a label and stitch it on.
I laid out the quilt and the kiddos immediately started "posing".  I love this one.
Love my son's expression in this one.

This one is for my niece, Maddelyn.  I gave her the fabric and showed her how to use my sewing machine.  She designed it and pieced it together and I quilted and bound it for her.

My next projects are for Halloween.  We will be planting our pumpkins next week and I'd like to see if I can sell some Halloween quilts at our pumpkin patch this year. Yeah!!!  However, I really need to get it all done before the new baby is here or it will be waiting until next year.

Dottie and Nana

I realized that I didn't have a good picture of Dottie on our blog, but here she is working with Nana on a pink ribbon quilt. Aren't they all beautiful???

I hope to get some more stars done today and maybe something else to put on the racks tonight.

(fingers crossed)

Introduction to Dottie

Nana & I bought an HQ Avante long arm quilt machine. YAY!!!! I am in love.... her name is Dottie, affectionately named after my grandmother. Here is a picture of our first quilt together.

The quilt is mine, a jelly roll from Lilac Hill. No pattern, I just had an idea in my head and ran with it. My son loves playing trucks under Dottie as you can tell from the lower right hand corner.

This is our 2nd quilt together. I've had the fabric for so long that I don't remember the designer. This quilt belongs to my 8 year old niece, I gave her the fabric and she designed it. For her birthday I showed her how to sew it together. I'm quilting it with daisies - cute, right?
Oh Dottie, is there anything you can't do?
